Our research focuses on improving methodologies for the isolation and identification of Campylobacter and the characterization of C. jejuni and C. coli strains using DNA techniques
Furthermore, our laboratory con also perform quality control studies for Campylobacter spp. in poultry products throughout the production line.
Few of our currently the projects of our laboratory are focusing on:
Use of pulsed-field gel electrophoresis and multi-locus sequence typing for the characterization of C. jejuni and C. coli isolates collected from retail broiler meat
Development of a real-time PCR for identification of C.jejuni from retail broiler samples
Sensitive and rapid detection of Campylobacter jejuni and Listeria monocytogenes using nanofluidic microarray systems (in collaboration with Dr. Jong Wook Hong at Auburn University).
